Martin Keating

Director

Martin Keating is a dedicated leader with a strong record of military service, community commitment, and professional excellence. He enlisted in the Australian Army in Brisbane in 1996 as a vehicle mechanic and served ten years as a regular soldier with 6RAR and 51 FNQR, followed by an additional three years in the Army Reserve with 51 FNQR. Martin deployed to East Timor with 6RAR from April to October 2000, contributing to international peacekeeping operations during a pivotal period in the nation’s transition to independence.

Following his military career, Martin transitioned successfully into the energy sector and is currently the Technical Procurement Supervisor for Energy Queensland. In this role, he leads a team responsible for procurement, logistics, and inventory for Renewable Embedded Generation (REG) across 33 remote power stations, from Boigu Island Power Station in the outer Torres Strait to Birdsville Power Station in Southwest Queensland. His work ensures reliable energy supply to some of Queensland’s most remote communities.

Martin is deeply involved in his local community. A 25‑year resident of Cairns, he is an active mentor and coach within local AFL programs, including coaching his sons’ teams and Cairns representative boys’ and girls’ squads. His passion for sport, teamwork, and youth development mirrors the values he carried forward from military service: mateship, integrity, and commitment.

With a strong interest in veterans’ wellbeing, men’s mental health, and supporting Defence personnel transitioning to civilian life, Martin has completed Mates in Energy training as a Connector and remains committed to giving back to the ex‑service community. He currently serves as a Director of the Cairns RSL Sub Branch — a role he views as an honour and a privilege, reflecting his deep respect for service and community.

Above all, Martin is a proud father of four boys and a community‑minded leader dedicated to service, mentoring, and making a positive impact wherever he can.
